Despair From the Deep
“Using ocean fish as artistic symbols, my presentation delves into a young woman‘s apprehension towards childbirth and her gender identity. It narrates her fear of pregnancy and the intrusion of a ‘parasitic’ egg, akin to the fertilization process. The visual finale portrays the plight of women confined by societal expectations of reproduction in some places.
Fish fight fiercely to determine genders in my story. Amidst piles of corpses, they vie for dominance, knowing the fate of losers. After the fight, tne desperate protagonist feels the intrusion of ’something‘ injected into her body, forced into fertilization. The main character, fearing the outcome, watches as eggs are harvested by others, reminiscent of her own past. Her belly, filled with eggs, is cut open to spawn new life, while she sees the inevitable fate of herself.”
